Candon is the Dock Railway's first rebuilt engine.
Candon was built as a SD45 for the Southern Pacific, but they rebuilt him into a SD44R. He then had brake issues, teething troubles, and piston explosions. After being retired around the time the Southern Pacific railroad (SP) briefly merged with the Santa Fe (ATSF) railroad, he was sold to the Dock Railway. All of his SP reporting marks were painted out and started service with the BCDR in 1983. In 2001, he was repainted in the USA colors after the Bigg City Pickles won a baseball game. Now he is often seen working with Splatter and Dodge at the Bigg City Coal Mines.
Candon is based on the Southern Pacific SD44R (EMDX #2816).
